I met Nick Nilsson at an affiliate celebration event in Key West, Florida just a few weeks ago.  Nick is an ‘old timer’ in Internet Marketing and info-product publishing and was gracious enough to grant me an interview with him.  More on that later….

Nick’s core site is fitstep.com.  You’ll have to hear the interview for details, but the basics of how Nick gets free traffic was originally through Q & A sites — like Yahoo Answers, etc.  He used/uses those sites to answer questions of his target audience then refer them to his site to build his list.

Hoopskills.com is a basketball training website that gets great free traffic from all kinds of sources.

Andy Louder, the owner of Hoopskills.com tells us, “One thing we do to get free traffic to our website is create really simple, short videos and post them on YouTube. Most people think that if you don’t have some fancy skill or product that it isn’t worth it for them to create video. That line of thinking is way way off. Even if you just shoot a simple video demonstrating each of your products that’s all you need.”

“The big tip: Make sure you embed your logo in the bottom corner of your video so that your web address is on it and then in your description that YouTube allows you to write with your video be sure to include your url in there. Also, use TubeMogul.com to submit your video to lots of other websites aside from YouTube, all for free!”

Tom, thanks for giving me the opportunity to get some more exposure for my site, www.farbelowretail.com.

One good way we get free traffic is to submit ads on Craigslist 30 or 40 times per day, every day we’re open.  We get a lot of direct phone calls, walk in traffic, and people coming to our site this way.

The big tip:  I have a couple of sales guys and while they are waiting for customers to come in, they each use the office computer to post ads on Craiglist.  I do as well, if I have time.
