My first experience with direct marketing started in 1989.

I learned how to place those "tiny little ads" in newspapers, periodicals and other sources. And I quickly found that I could make a lot of money, very quickly.

I could spend $400 on ads and make a $1,500+ return on that money within a week. Pretty cool for a college student.

It was also a lot of fun.

In the mid-1990's I took notice of the Internet. I didn't care much for computers, so I didn't spend a lot of time online early on. However, eventually I got into selling Internet products and services to small businesses.

There was just as much confusion then as there is now - just back then there was a lot less information to wade through to find something that actually works.

I noticed that Internet Marketing was very comparable to offline direct marketing, except that it was cheaper, faster, and you could make more money.

That got me excited.

At that point, I jumped into the Internet full-time.

I spent a few years as director of a consulting firm for a small company that sold over $40,000,000 in e-commerce services in just over four years. Including consulting for some the big-name gurus you still hear about today.

We considered ourselves the 'Anderson Consulting' of the small business world. I personally consulted over 500 small and home business owners.

Frankly, most people just don't know where to start. Some start and give up because there is such an overwhelming amount of useless information available online today. Many of yesterday's techniques and tools are ineffective in today's environment.

It's easy to make money on the Internet...*IF* you know what tools to use and how to use them correctly. You don't have to know dozens of marketing techniques to make money online. Many people I know who make significant online incomes focus in on a few, highly profitable techniques.
